Sturtevant Falls, the harder way.
Most people hike to the Falls from Chantry Flats on a relatively easy hike. However, in an attempt to train for the Grand Canyon, I did it upside down: I parked at Mt Wilson, hiked down to the Falls, and then hiked back up.
When I got to an overlook of the Falls I saw what I was expecting: a mad house. So, I didn't descend the 100' or so to ground level. Even if I had I wouldn't feel great about getting in that water without pouring a gallon of chlorine in it first.
The stats ended up being about 9 miles RT with 3600' of gain. While the upside-down nature made it a little harder, it wasn't exorbitantly so. One upside of upside-down is getting the loose downhill out of the way first. The trail wasn't that loose, but it wasn't smooth enough to where I was able to jog down more than parts of it. Needless to say, jogging down would have been a mistake anyway since that would have tired me out for the uphill portion.
On the way down there were several trees fallen across the trail, including one that I had to step through. Once I got down to the Sturtevant Camp area it looks like there was plenty of filterable water, although I wouldn't want to filter from the downstream of the Falls...
